The legendary Jeep Wrangler continues to demonstrate its award–winning credentials after taking 4×4 Magazine’s 4×4 of the Year, Hardcore class for the third year running.

The award comes as the specialist off–road driving publication’s panel of expert judges once again put the rugged US–built off–roader above some extremely capable competitors in its class.

In the same awards, Jeep’s new Cherokee received a Highly Recommended accolade in the Top Range SUV category.

In awarding it top honours for the third consecutive time, the 4×4 of the Year competition judges praised the Wrangler’s comfort, off–roading ability, iconic deign and classic appeal.

“Put simply, Jeep ought to sell a lot more Wranglers in the UK, it’s that good,” says Nigel Fryatt, editor, 4×4 Magazine.

“While it has become more comfortable, and easier to live with, it has lost none of its off–road abilities. A rugged classic, comfortable, highly competent off–road and a joy to drive – what’s not to like?”

The diesel–powered, automatic returns 34.9 mpg (34.0 mpg 4–door) on the combined cycle and has a CO2 figure of 213 g/km (217 g/km 4–door).
