Hyundai delivered the first ix35 Fuel Cell cars to the UK this week, proving they are committed to providing sustainable fuel technologies for a cleaner, greener environment. Hyundai are continuing with their plan to roll–out the world’s first series–production hydrogen–fuelled car across the globe. The South Korean manufacturers have been working on fuel cell technology since 1998 when they established their first fuel cell unit. The news comes after the UK Government announced plans this week to support hydrogen transport research worth £11 million worth of funding.
The new Hyundai ix35 uses fuel cell technology and hydrogen which produces zero emissions making it very environmentally friendly. The ix35 Fuel Cell can travel up to 350 miles before it has to re–fuel, which is as quick and easy a process as it is with petrol and diesel cars.
President and CEO, Hyundai Motor UK Tony Whitehorn said of the ix35: Making the first UK customer deliveries of hydrogen–powered cars is a huge landmark for the industry. Hyundai is the first company in the world to start series–production of a fuel cell vehicle and is committed to rolling–out this technology in line with government plans to grow the refuelling infrastructure.
